We have contracts with some insurance companies in Jordan and try our best to have the cost of the procedures covered by insurance.
Causes
There are many causes for headaches and facial pain. One of the most common is migraine headaches which affect about 12% of the population.
What is Migraine?
If a headache has two of the four qualities below and is either associated with nausea or is worse with light or noise, it may be diagnosed as a migraine after excluding other causes of headaches:
- Severe in intensity
- Worse with activity
- Affecting one side of the head
- Throbbing in nature
Prevention
Migraine feeds on change. Try to have a fixed daily routine of sleeping, eating and exercising.
Treatment
- If the headache is frequent (more than 6 days of headaches in a month), we use preventive medications to decrease the frequency and intensity of the headaches.
- We use acute medications to stop headaches, which should not be used more than twice a week to avoid medication overuse headaches.
- If medications are not effective we use interventional procedure.
We perform the following interventional procedures to treat headaches and facial pain:
C2-C3 and Third Occipital Nerve radiofrequency ablation.
Occipital nerve blocks.
Botox injections for chronic migraine headaches.
Trigeminal nerve blocks.
Sphenopalatine ganglion blocks.
